Former FC Platinum and TP Mazembe midfielder Ali ‘Gazza’ Sadiki has joined Harare City as the Ruyamuro Northern Region Soccer League returns this weekend with some mouth watering clashes.

Log leaders Black Mambas’ encounter against Golden Eagles at Morris Sports Club on Saturday headlines the fixtures which also sees Herentals U20 clash against MWOS at Motor Action Sports Club.

While the Black Mambas match against Golden Eagles will have most of the focus, attention will also be cast on second placed Harare City who lost almost the entire team during the mid season transfer window but made a capture in Sadiki, a seasoned midfielder who left premier league side Simba Bhora last month. Harare City begins the second half of the season with a date against Chinhoyi Stars.

With so much competition at the top, Mambas are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to win the league title after so many years of struggling and near misses. Assistant coach Innocent Nyoni said they have been using the break to strategise for the last lap of the campaign.

” As they say that it’s not how you start but rather how you finish that makes the difference. So for us it’s all about how we are going to finish,” Nyoni said.

“So we still have got a lot to do but so far , so good , we are still motivated and inspired by the unity the team has. Our minds are now pointing the same direction.”

Black Mambas beat Golden Eagles 1-0 in the reverse fixture just before the break and Nyoni believes that they need a good restart to the campaign and set the tone for the remainder of the season with a win.

” Our match will be more tactical oriented since both teams have a slight idea of how we both play , so I guess it’s one of those games anyone would want to watch. We are putting everything together for the last lap of the season.”

Third placed and surprise package of the first half of the season Chegutu Pirates are also gearing to take the title race to the wire by adding three more strikers and a goalkeeper.
They have recruited Jim Gwara and Martin Nhubu from MWOS, Clemence Gwanzura from Ngezi Platinum Stars U19 and Panashe Mushonga from Dunamis Academy. Pirates are away to Commando Bullets at Commando Barracks.

Trojan Stars lost experienced midfielder Raphael Manuvire and captain Brian Kativhu to premier league side ZPC Kariba while Lewis Milanzi joined MWOS. The Bindura based side have signed Langton Chavinda from Concession with Nigel Bvundura and Tafadzwa Gwashavanhu coming in from Dada Academy. The Webster Chingodza coached side take on OMNIA at Muriel Mine stadium. Karoi United are at home against ZRP Harare at Chikangwe stadium. Come Again welcome Banket United at Rimuka stadium.

Trailblazing Arthur ‘Tuts’ Tutani begins his mission to save Shamva Mine from relegation with a date against PAM FC at home. Tutani, a multiple title winning coach in the league recently joined Shamva Mine taking over from Ralph Kawondera. His arrival at the club coincides with the approval of their Shamva Mine stadium to host matches having used Trojan Mine stadium during the first half of the season.

Tutani said he is navigating in a familiar terrain after having worked in the town before, guiding Simba Bhora to the league title last season. “I know the players, having worked with most of them before. So I’m just looked forward to accomplish the mission of saving the team from relegation.”

Tutani reunites with his former captain at Simba Bhora Brighton Tuwaya as well as striker Nicholas Alifandika. Action however begins on Friday with Ngezi Platinum Stars U19 hosting basement side Concession United at Baobab stadium.
