Newly promoted Sheasham got a shot in the arm after they were given a USD $50 000 donation from Glow Petroleum to help them find their footing in the 2023 season in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

Sheasham got the ticket into the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League after winning the Central Region Soccer League 2022 championship title.

With most teams from the Central Region Soccer League finding it difficult to hold their own in the top flight league, Glow Petroleum came to the aid of Sheasham so that they can start their life in the elite league on a sound financial foundation.

Glow Petroleum made the donation during a Sheasham awards ceremony which also doubled as a fundraising event for the club in Gweru on Friday night.

Glow Petroleum director Aaron Chinhara who has his roots in the Midlands Province, said Sheasham needs support so that it can not only shape the lives of the players but also of the community that it operates in.

“I would like to first congratulate you Sheasham for winning the Central Region Soccer League championship and also getting promotion into the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League. Your venture into football should shape the society in a positive way,” Chinhara said.

“Your success should be reflected in the lives of your players as well as your fans. Sports is now a big business capable of changing the lives of many people.Let’s support this football immensely so that it grows to be a force reckon with.”

Sheasham president Clever Mandaza thanked Glow Petroleum for their gesture and promised to repay the faith bestowed on his club by doing well next season and beyond.

“I would like to thank Glow Petroleum for seeing value in us as Sheasham. We are going into the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League where costs of travelling and accommodation will be high. Competition will also be high but with this support from Glow Petroleum, we are capacitated and ready to compete,” Mandaza said.

“I want to promise you that we are going to be a force to reckon with in the top flight league. We also carry the hopes and identity of the Central Region Soccer League so we are not going to disappoint. We know that the perception is that teams from Central Region Soccer League gets into the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League and gets relegated after just a season but let assure you that we are not going to be like that.”

Kit manufacturer George Mitchell also made a kit donation to Sheasham going into the 2023 season.
